There are some super one off cars
out there. Expirimental cars that can acheive an fantastic MPG rating.
On June 7 and 8, 2008, in Marshall Michigan, 30 teams from all over the world participated in this challenge.
It was to develop a single person, fuel efficient vehicle, powered by a small 4-cycle engine.
The driver had to be totally closed in and not able to touch the ground, and it had to have at least 3 wheels.
Universite Laval won with 3,169 MPG. A top MPG design.
Winning took a combination of points from technical inspection of the vehicles as well as fuel economy.
The University of British Columbia's winning entry managed 3,145 MPG., back in 2006.
The University of British Columbia took the top spot in the 2004 competition for fuel efficiency with 1747 miles per gallon doing better that it's 2003 3rd place showing with 927 MPG.
